Platypus spotting and Golden Opportunities

Conveniently located on the Glenelg Highway between Ballarat and Hamilton, Skipton is blessed with beautiful parks and gardens and significant historic buildings. Arrive by car or use the town as a base for attempting the challenging 54km Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail.

Take a 'golden opportunity' and discover Skipton on route home to Melbourne via Ballarat. Share in some fun with the locals at the Country Music Muster and ute muster in March, Campdrafting in April or visit during the Rose festival in November. See local events.

Visitors have an opportunity to spot a platypus from a viewing platform on Mt Emu Creek. The Presbyterian Church is delightfully gothic and “Mooramong” homestead paints a delightful picture of another era. The main street, parks and gardens offer ample reason to break a journey on the Glenelg Highway.

The recent addition of the Skipton Art Gallery housed in an 150 year old bluestone building gives you another reason to stop in the charming, welcoming township of Skipton.
