About the listing

During daylight hours from Friday 1st November to Sunday 1st December 2019

Parks Victoria and Heritage Victoria are partnering to showcase a selected range of shipwreck artefacts in a pop-up interpretation located inside the historic Rocket Shed building in Port Campbell.
Below Decks: Rescued from Shipwrecks, will be viewable from Friday 1st November until Sunday 1st December.
Visitors will be able to peer through the front window of the building to view an interpretation of artefacts that were recovered from seven shipwrecks in the waters off Victoria, and are from the collection held by Heritage Victoria: Loch Ard, Fiji, Thistle, SS City of Launceston, Joanna, Sacramento, and City of Edinburgh.
Following the Loch Ard tragedy, the Rocket Shed was built to accommodate a rocketand-mortar crew which was established to undertake life-saving rescues from other stricken ships along the treacherous Victorian coastline – and which is now known as the ‘Shipwreck Coast.’
