    In the right conditions, with the right equipment this region offers some of the most spectacular blue water kayaking in Australia. Click here for information on the most viable put in and return points. Check the weather maps, carry safety and emergency equipment train hard and always have a back up plan. It is unwise to paddle alone in these waters

    Near shore opportunities are fantastic when the right conditions present. Click here for more information and always be aware of your own ability, weather, sea and swell conditions. Equipment is available for hire in Port Campbell

  • SCUBA

    SCUBA

    All divers undertaking scuba trips on local wrecks need a PADI open water ticket. Shore diving is possible from places including Port Campbell Bay and Boat Bay in Bay of Islands Coastal Park. Tank refills, advice and charter trips are available through Port Campbell Marine Services in the Unique Experiences section.

    Boating

    Plenty of estuary and lake opportunities with good ramp access and mooring. Access to the ocean requires sound local knowledge and a permit to use the crane at Port Campbell pier. Click here for more information

  • Swimming

    Swimming

    Port Campbell's sheltered bay is patrolled on weekends and public holidays from mid November until Easter Monday. The horseshoe shape of the bay and its offset from the direct line of Ocean swell generally mean it receives less wave action than the rest of the coast. Port Campbell Bay hosts an annual Ocean Swim race in January, the 12 Apostles plunge.

    Estuaries and inland lakes provide some great sheltered opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. Click here for information about different areas and the best places to put in and haul out. You will need to bring your own equipment or organise it before you leave.

    Lake Bullen Merri near Camperdown and Deep Lake near Derrinallum both have good amenity for water skiing and good access for boats. And although narrow the Curdies River near Curdievale just opposite the Boggy Creek Hotel has a ski zone through the bends in the river. Click here for more information

  • Surfing

    Surfing

    Not a place for the faint hearted or inexperienced. All waves between Cape Otway and Warrnambool carry significant consequence and weight of water in most conditions. Limited access and distance from hospitals make it a less than ideal place to push your luck. Local surf shop proprietors are experienced at mending snapped boards and offer good trade-ins on recently soiled wetsuits.
