Learn how to spot Platypus and Rakali- Timboon
Do you live or work near a local creek or river? With some simple techniques, you could be helping to protect the amazing platypus and rakali.
Event description: Making a Difference (MAD) for the Merri Landcare group along with the Australian Platypus Conservancy are offering Timboon and surrounding areas valuable visual monitoring training to site and report platypus and rakali (native water rat).
Following the session you'll then be invited to try out your new monitoring skills in the field!
So whether you walk the dog passed a creek, fish by the river or are an active wildlife watcher, everyone is encouraged to come along (children will need to be accompanied by an adult).
There are few current records of both these important species and more information on their numbers and whereabouts is vital to protecting their habitat.
Please note: You will need to organise your own way to the site visit following the training workshop.
Session will commence at 1.45pm at Timboon Golf Club concluding about 4.00pm
